Young Mula Baby?

I’m convinced last night that after Lil Wayne’s atrocious performance, he made a point to TRY and diss JAY-Z by saying “Young Mula Baby” and throwing the mic on the ground. Point not taken. Yes, Wayne’s female artist Nicki Minaj did win a moon man for Best Hip Hop video, but did Wayne really think that just because he’s grown somewhat of an empire with YMCMB his performance would just be able to slip through the cracks? Let’s begin with the choice of live autotune - “How to Love” is Wayne’s latest track, but there are so many songs that would have been better WITHOUT the autotune. All of your artists were in the audience why not have them all on stage and put on a real performance? Maybe then viewers and fans could say that Wayne had a chance against The Throne last night.

Unfortunately for him, his performance didn’t cut it and Hov’s wifey made a point to announce some BIG news for the couple; they’re pregnant! Now Wayne do you really believe that people care about The Carter IV, which was already leaked (as his albums usually are), when the two biggest celebrities in Hollywood have created an heir to their empire? Chances are they don’t. You still don’t have his lady’s money. We all know both rappers are on two completely different playing fields, Wayne just proved with his half-assed performance who the better rapper was.

I must have forgot, #ThingsBetterThanTheCarterIV …

He Said She Said

You know the saying “there’s always three sides to a story? My side, your side and the truth.” Well, I’m beginning to become a firm believer, so much that if I was a preacher that would be my sermon today. Within the past 48 hours I have been in contact with two of my exes. They were the longest relationships I’ve had and they both at one time or another meant the world to me. One of them I still can’t seem to let go of. This got me thinking; all of those arguments throughout high school of me being immature and giving into insecurities didn’t get me much further in life until after I was done with these relationships to look back and reflect on what went wrong.

If you’re with someone and another person starts coming around or flirting and won’t get a clue to back off, there’s a REASON. You know we always try to find a way not to blame ourselves for what goes on, but sometimes when we’re in a relationship we try to protect the person we love so we blame a third party. Those girls that were around my exes weren’t there to get a rise out of me, they stuck around because my exes put them on a pedestal that should have never existed. Yes I may have been the Queen of the throne but that all falls on deaf ears. Who knows what was going on behind my back. I love relationships and I love LOVE, but I do not love the foolishness that occurred during them.

Love takes time and patience. We have to realize that not everyone we date will be our prince charming or princess, but they’re in our lives at those times to teach us lessons. I still have a hard time trying to cope with bitterness in my own heart but I learned to surround myself with amazing family and friends and know that I can and will get through this in due time. Either love me or leave me alone.

It’s Been Awhile, Nothing But SPAM!

So it’s been awhile since my last post.  What can I say, nothing exciting has occurred.  My apologies in advance for any misspellings. I’m using a computer dated back what seems like 10 years ago, nothing like my MacBook I have sitting at home. Regardless, this whole having to find a job thing is really starting to take a toll on my life. I am working, but only on Thursdays and Fridays and it’s not doing anything to benefit my future career as a successful PR woman. I recently sent out my resume to two companies … we’ll see.

Also, if you have just graduated college like myself and are trying to find a job here’s one piece of advice, BE CAREFUL! It’s not like it used to be, finding a job that is. Everything is Internet based therefore you have to search on websites and company homepages to see what is available, or word of mouth I presume.  Despite that, while I was looking through the job ads, I had gotten a call back from a company that I never finished filling something out for.  In retrospect I got multiple calls and e-mails, all of which I decided to ignore for the sheer fact that I never completed or sent my resume in to their company.  I come to find out that by doing my RESEARCH (and by research I mean typing the company name into Google), that it was a scam. There are multiple websites on these job websites advertising jobs only to get an interview with a false company who wants you to go door to door trying to sell knives.  Let me tell you something, I did not just pay hundreds of thousands of dollars and graduate from a private university to be doing that! Needless to say, I’m glad I did my research because it was way too creepy and suspicious.  Did I mention that the first e-mail I got was on a Sunday afternoon? You might be thinking that’s fast and efficient service and they were interested. No way, too suspicious for me honey. No one is generally in their office during the weekends and if they are I’m quite sure that job postings are the last bit of business they want to be doing on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

So that’s really all that’s been going on here. I wish I could take up a hobby, but it seems like the gym and reading books all in one day is enough for right now. I never thought I’d say this, but I WANT to work full time, everyday.  I NEED to be busy, this is getting out of hand. I’ll sacrifice the sunny days and sunbathing for writing press releases and contacting the media. Cold calling even sounds pleasurable right now. Until next time …

You Can Say I Do - TOO!

Yesterday marked a moment in history for the LGBT community.  New York State has FINALLY legalized gay marriage!  Hooray!  It’s been a long time coming considering; I mean let’s be real here, for New York City especially.  It is the melting pot of the United States.  It’s about time they passed a law allowing gays and lesbians to join in unity with the rest of the world and marry.  I never really saw what the big deal was.  Yes, I get it - some people are homophobic and others preach their religion.  WHATEVER!  Half of those people have most likely done something that someone else wouldn’t approve of.  I love the idea of love and I don’t care who it involves as long as it’s happy, passionate and honest.

I’m really excited actually, it means I’ll hopefully be attending more weddings.  Besides, I’m not sure about any of you, but I have a few gay friends and they’re pretty great!  I can’t wait until one of them actually gets engaged and throws a wedding.  And now they better!  I’m rooting for all of my friends to get married because quite frankly, I don’t think I ever will.  I’m being optimistic about it, however this brings me to tomorrow’s extravaganza in New York City … the Pride Parade.  The streets of NYC are going to be roaring and fabulous with the latest events over that past two days.  I’m actually debating if I should allow my friends to drag me into the city for the festivities and join in the celebrations.  I’m sure there will never be another Pride Parade like this one, maybe it’s something not to miss.  Keep it fabulous dolls ;) nobody likes when things are boring!

Hey Big - Spendaaaa!

Most college kids I know are either unemployed or have gotten lucky enough to find a job. But let’s be honest, those salaries aren’t budding into big dollar signs just yet.  So how can we all, employed or not, young graduates still afford some of the same luxuries we used to have before becoming adults and having to pay back loans?  Shop smarter!  With all the extra time on your hands, search the web.  We use it constantly everyday and it’s a great way to find the most affordable prices around.  For starters, subscribe to your favorite stores online.  I get emails all the time especially about sales.  Even some stores I would generally not shop in have become more affordable when they throw annual sales or have big blow outs.  For example, express has been having major sales lately and it’s good to go in the store and browse especially for pieces that you can use throughout your wardrobe and that don’t go “out of style” or season.

Secondly, look for coupons! It doesn’t mean you’re a cheap person, it means youre a smart shopper. The economy hasn’t been the greatest and lets face it, majority of us haven’t created the next invention or social media site and are making six figures as graduates. Get the daily news paper with inserts and start clipping coupons. Every penny counts! Don’t get me wrong, I love certain brands, but I can sometimes substitue others for compatible products and more affordable prices.

Here’s a secret, use eBay, half.com, and even craigslist. Depending on what you’re looking for, there’s somewhere you can find it for less than the price it’s retailed at. Make sure you review the outlets you’re thinking of using. Check out background info on the product you want and the place you find it cheapest. Do your research! With just a little time and effort it won’t feel like you’re spending the last of your check all the time. Trust me my budget is nowhere near high right now, but I’m working with what I’ve got. I search for products I really want and find them at better prices than usual. It IS possible to spoil yourself if you use your resources. You’d be surprised!

So my little sister graduated high school about an hour ago.  Needless to say when you’re sitting in the same auditorium you used to take physical fitness in and hang out with all of your old high school friends, memories race through your mind like rapid fire.  I couldn’t wait to see my old teachers who couldn’t remember when I had graduated from high school.  To their surprise, I had just graduated college.  The speeches made by the President, Salutatorian and Valedictorian intrigued me beyond belief.  I have to say the salutatorian wowed me with her wit (I definitely was a fan), except she was a little dry … not much personality.  Despite that, as I listened to their wise words of encouragement to their classmates it made me wonder what exactly I was thinking when I was sitting in their seats.  Could I not wait to get out of high school? (Probably) Was I ready for this new beginning? (Most likely) Did I even think there was a world outside the one I had known for my whole life? (Definitely not).

I found myself wanting to call the students liars.  I barely speak to anyone that I went to high school with and that might be my prerogative however everyone drifts away from one another unless you stay at home or go to community college.  I wondered what my sister was thinking and if she was really buying all of this “we’ll always remember our friends from high school.”  My guess was probably not, my sister is a lot more realistic and to the point than most people I know.  She’s hardcore with things like this especially when it comes to feelings.  For a few moments I was envious, I loved sitting on the field at graduation a month ago.  They were all throwing their hats, hitting around beach balls and orchestrating The Wave.

As much as I know that my sister has no idea how much is outside of this little bubble that she’s going to experience in the next few months, neither do I.  I went from the same faces, schools and teachers for 12 years and then moved to a different state with people I’ve never met before.  Truth be told, you have to stop playing with the familiar and flirt with the unknown.  I loved college and exploring a whole new world, and now I’m ready to start a whole different life and focus on my career and those I have met.  Congratulations Lea <3
